Cane Creek Retreat is a fully remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath manufactured home that sits in the heart of the Hercules Glades Wilderness Area in Mark Twain National Forest. The National Forest adjoins 2 sides of the property. Enjoy 143 acres of peaceful, quiet nature with ½ mile of Cane Creek running through it. See the beautiful flowering trees in March and April and the spectacular fall colors in October and November. Walk the short jaunt down to the creek to swim and play in it, catch crawdads, roast hotdogs and s’mores on the gravel bank. If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can also drive down to the creek bank. Be aware that if we are in a drought period the creek may be dry. Watch deer and turkey from the wrap around deck overlooking the hay meadows and creek.
Hike the many trails running through the property and the National Forest trails. You are only a few miles away from these forest trail heads - Hercules Tower, Blair Ridge, Coy Bald, Glade Top, and Tidwell. There are also local forest trails off Cane Creek Road and Blair Ridge Road. A local trail guide can be arranged if you are interested. Horse and UTV/ATV enthusiasts can bring horses and Off Highway Vehicles to ride the National Forest roads, Glade Top Scenic Byway and for UTV/ATV/Motorcycle only, the Chadwick UTV/ATV/Motorcycle Riding Area.
Fishing and boating are a quick 15-20 minute jaunt several directions to Bull Shoals Lake at the Theodosia, River Run, Beaver Creek or Buck Creek Corp of Engineers parks. Tablerock Lake is a 45 minute drive to State Park Marina. Trout fishing on Taneycomo Lake is a 20 minute drive with launches available in Forsyth and Rockaway Beach.
Branson and Silver Dollar City are just a short drive away so you can see the sights, do the tourist things and return to the peaceful country when you are done. Branson Landing and the Branson Strip are a short 35 minute drive and Silver Dollar City is 45 minutes.
The cabin is fully furnished with 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds and a queen sleeper sofa. We also provide a Pack and Play and 1 high chair/booster seat for babies and toddlers. We provide towels, shampoo and soap, linens, a well equipped kitchen with full size range and dishwasher, full size washer and dryer, paper products and trash bags. Internet service is not provided however there is good cell service with the major providers so you can use your hotspot. A 42” TV with antennae and a DVD player are available along with a variety of games, puzzles and books should you simply choose to relax while you are with us.
This is a rural property approximately 25 miles east of Branson MO. Being in the Ozark Plateau the roads are winding so be sure to have Dramamine for anyone who tends towards carsickness.
We own a cattle farm just a few miles away from the cabin. For an additional fee we can set you up with a real first hand farm experience, just contact us to make arrangements. This would include daily morning and evening chores consisting of feeding the chickens, gathering eggs, bottle feeding a calf twice a day, graining and watering the cows and currying the horses. We can also set up a full ranch cowboy weekend two times per year (generally May and October) when we work the full herd (60+ mama cows, babies and 4 bulls). These weekends are the time of year when all cattle are rounded up, brought into the corral, given shots, poured, banded and tagged.
