It is 2/10ths of a mile from New River State Park, Elk Shoals Access, where you can do activities such as fishing, tubing, and kayaking. This is a local swimming hole in the summer. In five minutes you can enjoy the town of West Jefferson, where you can stroll down the streets, shop at local shops, enjoy art galleries of local artists, enjoy great food and indulge in the local spirits in two breweries of Boone Docks, New River Brewery and the Wine Shoppe. You can watch cheese being made at the famous Ashe Cheese Factory and buy the goods at the shop across the street. This is located near our Parkway Theater which two movies are available. We are located 26 miles from Boone, NC, home of Appalachian State University and Appalachian Ski Mountain where you can enjoy winter activities such as skiing, snow boarding. 47 miles from Beech Mountain Ski Resort where depending on weather there is an ice skating ring, skiing, etc. Grandfather Mountain is about 46 miles from the cabin.
